Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The dressing, turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie are just a few reasons why Thanksgiving should be every ones favorite holiday. This year I was struck with the thought of how even the most earnest celebration of what God has done for us can become something that it was never intended to be. It is amazing how quickly our old nature takes something good and turns it evil. I read recently that 24,000 people die every single day in the world from starvation. That’s 1000 every hour! Contrast those numbers with how we celebrate the graciousness of God on Thanksgiving Day. We eat as much as we can! Now don’t get me wrong. I will enjoy the turkey, family, and watching Dallas lose. My only point in this short blog, is to hopefully cause you to think more about the way we give thanks for the unbelievable prosperity we live in. We do not live in prosperity for ourselves. Think about it. Pray about it. Give thanks.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
